The Schweiz Extrem West Band 1 guidebook describes a selection of rock climbing and sport climbing routes at grades from F6a and above, in the Western Swiss Alps around Interlaken.  It covers the most beautiful climbing crags from Freiburg via the Bernese Oberland to Vaud, plus the entire area of the Valais.  The area covered is from Martigny in the southwest to Interlaken in the northeast. In total 72 separate crags are described with the majority of the routes being single pitch, though there are also some multi-pitch routes as well.  Some of the crags included are Gastlosen, Elsigen, Ueschenen, Winteregg, Neuhaus, Lehn, plus Gimmelwald that is described as one of the best sport climbing areas in Switzerland.  All the routes are shown on clear topos, with all the routes given French grades (each pitch if appropriate).  At the start of each area there is a good location map, GPS co-ordinates for the parking areas, along with useful information such as altitude, when the crag is in the sun and the style of climbing to be found.  Published in May 2023 this guidebook is written in German and English text throughout.
